The Norman Foster Foundation is awarding 10 scholarships for students to participate in the first edition of the Re-materializing Housing Workshop 2020, to be held at the Norman Foster Foundation in Madrid, Spain.
The workshop is supported by the LafargeHolcim Foundation and will take place from March 23-27, 2020.
Re-materializing Housing Workshop 2020 debates how knowledge learnt from vernacular architecture techniques can best be combined with the developments of new technologies to design affordable housing solutions.
The interdisciplinary exchange will gather a team of ten scholars from diverse backgrounds including architecture, arts and humanities, sustainability, technology, and materials. The selected scholars will explore the future possibilities of housing, in relation with affordability and the use of innovative techniques, material experimentation and sustainable design.
Each grant will cover transportation, accommodation and incurred costs related to the workshop in Madrid. Scholars will be invited to engage with an interdisciplinary Academic Body composed of researchers, industry practitioners and academics. The Re-materializing Housing Workshop 2020 scholarship application form is available on the website of the Norman Foster Foundation. Application deadline is January 12, 2020, 24:00 CEST.
The LafargeHolcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction is proud to support the workshop of the Norman Foster Foundation following its Forum on “Re-materializing Construction” in Cairo to which Lord Norman Foster contributed the keynote “Learning from history – building for the future”.
