LafargeHolcim is on a mission to discover the most sustainable use of concrete at the Zero Carbon Hack. The sponsor of the LafargeHolcim Foundation and Awards competition has launched an open invitation to a 48-hour hackathon to collaborate and produce sustainable building solutions. The Zero Carbon Hack will be held in Lyon, France, on November 15 to 17, 2019.
Participants at the Zero Carbon Hack will be challenged to develop ideas to minimize the embodied carbon footprint of a reference building via design levers. The solutions will pave the way for the smart use of concrete and innovative design.
This international event will bring together passionate practitioners to take on the challenge and collaborate with international experts. The Zero Carbon Hack seeks new graduates or masters students from architecture, design, software development, civil engineering, and related disciplines.
A total of EUR 10,000 in prize money is offered including the first prize of EUR 5,000 and a six-month collaboration with LafargeHolcim to further develop the winning project. LafargeHolcim will offer a contribution to participants’ travel expenses, and take care of accommodation and meals.
LafargeHolcim is the global leader in building materials and solutions. LafargeHolcim created the LafargeHolcim Foundation in 2003 to raise awareness of the important role that architecture, engineering, urban planning and the building industry have in achieving a more sustainable future.
