We’d love to hear more about every project entered in the LafargeHolcim Awards, but our jury meetings last only two days. That’s why the text fields in the entry form are short: you need to stay on track and be concise.
The project description cannot exceed 800 characters (including spaces), which is around 150 words. This same text limit applies to the space available for your three statements on sustainability, as well as the CO2 lifecycle assessment (only for Main Category entries).
Think about what makes your project special – in terms of its contribution to sustainable construction. Remember that the jury will evaluate your entry using the “target issues” for sustainable construction. Understanding the “target issues” and where your project excels will help you to make the best impression during the evaluation process.
You can also look at the project descriptions created by the previous LafargeHolcim Awards winners from Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East Africa and Asia Pacific for inspiration. From the list of regional winners, click on the “Read more” link for any winning project – you’ll find the project submission in the right-hand column under “Competition entry”.

The Awards offer a total of USD 2 million in prize money and foreground projects and concepts from architecture, engineering, urban planning, materials and construction technology, and related fields.
