Icons of design excellence to evaluate Global LafargeHolcim Awards 2021

Members of jury announced – Competition open for entries until February 25

A jury of nine experts headed by Hashim Sarkis, Dean of the MIT School of Architecture & Planning, will evaluate entries in the Global phase of the 6th International LafargeHolcim Awards in 2021. The competition is currently open for submissions at the regional level. The USD 2 million Awards seek projects by professionals as well as bold ideas from the Next Generation that foreground design excellence and sustainability in the built environment.

The jury will meet next year to evaluate all Gold, Silver and Bronze winners from the regional LafargeHolcim Awards 2020. The members of the jury include head Hashim Sarkis, Principal of Hashim Sarkis Studios and curator of the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale (USA/Lebanon); Meisa Batayneh Maani, Founder & Principal Architect of Maisam Architects & Engineers (Jordan); Angelo Bucci, Principal of spbr arquitetos and Lecturer, Faculty of Architecture & Urbanism, Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil); Bruce Gibbons, Managing Principal of Thornton Thomasetti (USA); Anne Lacaton, Principal of Lacaton & Vassal Architectes (France); Brinda Somaya, Principal Architect & Managing Director of Somaya & Kalappa Consultants (India); and Mun Summ Wong, Founding Director of WOHA-architects (Singapore).

The jury will be complemented by the Head of the LafargeHolcim Foundation’s Academic Committee Marilyne Andersen, Professor of Sustainable Construction Technologies, EPFL (Switzerland), and Roland Köhler, Chairman of the Board of the LafargeHolcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction (Switzerland).

Final call to enter the LafargeHolcim Awards

The regional Awards competition remains open for entries until February 25, 2020 at 14:00 UTC and recognizes projects and concepts from architecture, engineering, urban planning, materials science, construction technology, and related fields. Submissions in this first phase of the competition will be evaluated by independent juries in each region of the world; the main winners then automatically qualify for the Global Awards 2021.
