Luisa Pastore
About
Luisa Pastore is an Architectural Engineer specialized in sustainable architecture, bioclimatic design and comfort in buildings. She is the Coordinator of the Academic Committee of the LafargeHolcim Foundation and was minute keeper of the regional LafargeHolcim Awards juries 2020.
In 2014, she completed a PhD in Recovery of Existing Buildings and Innovative Processes in Architecture from the University of Palermo (Italy). Her thesis “Sustainable Social Housing in Temperate Areas. Italy and Brazil: the use of vegetation as a retrofit strategy” received the Diploma d’Onore from the Italian Section of the European Regional Science Association (AISRe).
From 2014 to 2019 she worked as post-doctoral researcher and lecturer at the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Performance-Integrated Design (LIPID) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL Lausanne).
Luisa is Co-Founder of SBskin (Smart Building Skin), a technological start-up based in Palermo for the development of innovative and energy-efficient building façade components. With her entrepreneurial idea, she was awarded as Innovator Under 35 Italy 2014 by MIT Technology Review Italy.
