Bruce Gibbon is Managing Principal at Thornton Tomasetti, based in Los Angeles, USA.
He is the leader of of Thornton Tomasetti’s US-West region, coordinating the operations of the firm’s five California offices. After 20 years with engineering firm Arup, Bruce joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2004 and established the firm’s Los Angeles office. Since 2011 he is as a member of the board of directors.
Bruce Gibbons is a licensed professional and structural engineer in California and a Chartered Structural Engineer in the United Kingdom. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil and structural engineering from Sheffield University (1984) and a master’s degree in concrete structures from Imperial College London (1989).
He has over 30 years of experience in the design, specification and construction of a wide variety of complex and expressive structures in the USA and internationally. His expertise spans a wide range of market sectors, including airports, commercial buildings, educational facilities, museums, performing arts centers, sports facilities and transit centers.
Bruce Gibbons will be a member of the Global LafargeHolcim Awards jury in 2021.
