LafargeHolcim Foundation Rewarding Excellence in Sustainable Construction

6th Awards Cycle: 2020-2021

6th Awards Cycle: 2020-2021

Results of the competitions to be announced 2021

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the schedule for announcing LafargeHolcim Awards winners has been adapted. The winners of both the regional phase and global phase of the Awards competition will be announced in 2021. The format for the Awards announcements will take the pandemic situation and the wellbeing of everyone involved at top of mind.

The Next Generation prize winning projects will be communicated online region by region in the week beginning June 14, 2021. The prize money will be transferred at that time. Representatives of the 21 Next Generation winning teams will be invited to attend the LafargeHolcim Forum and the Awards Lab 2022 in person and be presented with their Next Generation prize trophies.

The Main Category Awards (Gold, Silver and Bronze) and Acknowledgement prize winners from the five regional competitions will be communicated in a hybrid event November 12-14, 2021, as part of the 17th international Biennale of Architecture in Venice, Italy. Hashim Sarkis, curator of the Biennale and Head of the Global LafargeHolcim Awards jury 2021, will also announce the winners of the global LafargeHolcim Awards prizes. The prize money for regional Main Category and global Awards prizes will be transferred at that time. Representatives of the 33 Main Category winning teams will be invited to attend this event in person and receive the Awards and Acknowledgement prize trophies.

All project authors who submitted an entry in the 6th Awards competition cycle that passed the pre-assessment process and were evaluated by a jury will automatically receive a Confirmation of Participation via email as soon as the winners of the respective category have been announced (ie: in mid-June for entrants in the Next Generation category, and in mid-November for entrants in the Main category).

Global and Regional Awards juries conducted virtually

The Awards juries in five regions of the world (Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East Africa, and Asia Pacific) met virtually to nominate the competition winners using the Target Issues for sustainable construction.

100 hours online to evaluate 2,000 entries

Winners of regional Main Category prizes (Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Acknowledgement) submitted additional material to the Global LafargeHolcim Awards jury in March 2021. Global finalists were requested to provide a progress update and more detailed information on the environmental impact, circular use of materials, and lifecycle analysis of their project.
