Winners of the Holcim Awards Gold, Silver or Bronze in 2011 from each of the five regions automatically qualified for the Global Holcim Awards competition in 2012. The finalists were evaluated by a panel of independent experts of international stature engaged in the sustainable development of society, building processes, construction materials, and building projects. The Global Holcim Awards Jury met at the Papiersaal/Sihlcity in Zurich on March 15/16, 2012. The Holcim Innovation prize was a special accolade within the framework of the Holcim Awards competition which recognized innovative building materials and construction technologies in the context of sustainable construction. The Global Holcim Innovation prize Jury met at the Papiersaal/Sihlcity in Zurich on March 19, 2012. All 53 prize-winning projects at the regional level (including 38 Acknowledgement and “Next Generation” winners) competed for up to three Global Holcim Innovation prizes.
